This Position would suit residents of the Kingborough Municipality. Key Responsibilities: When experienced you will be expected to undertake these responsibilities with autonomy. 1. Opening and closing the Museum and ensuring no hazards are present 2. Checking mail and answering the telephone 3. Welcoming visitors and providing directions and general information 4. Receiving admission fees and payment for other products and services provided 5. Responding to enquiries and receiving group bookings 6. Acting as Fire Warden in case of fire or emergency Additional Roles: Museum Attendants are encouraged to develop a good understanding of the Museum displays, collections and library resources and how these contribute to the history of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel area. Additional roles which are encouraged include: 1. Guiding individuals or groups through the Museum 2. Supporting the School Co-ordinator by leading small groups of school children through the Museum 3. Assisting visitors in researching information using the Museum’s information retrieval systems. Supervision, Training and Support: Training in the use of the Museum’s Point-of-sale system and relevant computer applications will be provided with a refresher available if required. Documentation and check lists are available for reference. Initially an experienced staff member will be on hand to provide daily assistance and mentoring. Ongoing support and assistance are available from a committee member if required. Generally, museum attendants will work in pairs, however there may be some occasions where an experienced attendant, if agreeable, may be required to work alone.
