This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Secondary & Protection Engineer to join a growing Australian engineering consultancy with a strong pipeline across HV substations, grid connection, renewable energy, BESS, solar, utilities and data centre infrastructure. The role will suit someone who wants to stay technically hands-on while stepping into a more visible senior position with greater ownership, client exposure and mentoring responsibility. The Role As Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer – Secondary & Protection, you will lead and support the delivery of secondary and protection design packages across complex power infrastructure projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical input across protection schemes, secondary systems, control systems, SCADA, relay protection, panels, wiring, interfaces and design documentation. You will also help review engineering outputs, support clients through technical decisions, mentor developing engineers and contribute to a high-quality delivery culture. Key Responsibilities Lead secondary and protection design packages across HV, grid connection, renewable energy, BESS and data centre projects. Provide technical direction across protection schemes, control systems, SCADA, panels, wiring and interfaces. Review design deliverables to ensure they are safe, practical, compliant and fit for purpose. Support projects from concept and detailed design through to delivery and commissioning interface. Work with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and help build team capability. Support proposals and client discussions where technical credibility is required. You will ideally bring: Electrical Engineering qualifications. 8 years’ experience in HV, substation, secondary systems, protection or power engineering. Strong secondary and protection design experience. Exposure to utilities, renewables, BESS, solar, data centres or industrial power projects. Confidence leading design packages and reviewing technical work. Understanding of Australian Standards, utility standards and design assurance. Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor others. Australian citizenship, permanent residency or full Australian working rights. Why Consider This Role?
