About the role This is a rare opportunity to step into the finance engine room of a well-established private family office and truly own it. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will manage the day-to-day finance operations for the families diversified investment portfolio, which spans private equity, property, managed funds, and direct securities. The role is available following the planned retirement of a long-serving Bookkeeper who has built a highly organised, paperless finance function centred on Xero. You'll benefit from a thorough handover, including the opportunity to work alongside your predecessor through a full month-end cycle. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes genuine pride in accurate books, thrives with autonomy, and is a genuine Xero expert. What you'll do: Own the general ledger across SMSFs, trusts, and companies Upload and reconcile bank statements across a significant number of accounts Monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare first-draft month-end reporting pack for CFO review Process share registry data from ~20 registers monthly — load into Xero and classify each transaction (income, capital, return of capital) Monthly investment portfolio review and reconciliation Manage rental and outgoings invoices for directly held commercial properties Process monthly payroll and super Insurance management across all entities Coordinate with external accountant for tax, compliance, and year-end audits About you You are a self-directed finance professional who sees what needs doing and gets it done, no micromanagement required. You have a track record in multi-entity accounting and bring genuine expertise in Xero. A CA or CPA is not required; your capability and experience speak for themselves.
