The Role As Senior Manager, Operational Risk, you’ll provide Line two leadership across Pepper Money, overseeing the effectiveness of operational risk management and acting as a trusted risk partner to the business. Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, the role focuses on incident and issue governance, root cause and thematic analysis, risk‑in‑change oversight, business partnership, and translating operational risk data into clear, meaningful insights for senior management and governance forums. You’ll work closely with the Governance and Enablement and Risk Assurance teams within Operational Risk to deliver strong execution, clear accountability and effective outcomes across the Three Lines model. You’ll also lead and develop a team of operational risk professionals, playing an important role in strengthening Pepper’s risk culture and capability. What you’ll be responsible for: Providing senior Line two oversight of operational risk management across the business, ensuring risks are managed in line with Pepper’s Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Acting as a senior risk partner to executive and business leaders, providing credible, proportionate and commercially informed challenge Overseeing the governance and quality of risk and control management activities, including review and challenge of Risk and Control Self‑Assessments (RCSA) Overseeing the governance and quality of incident and issue management, including investigation, root cause analysis, remediation and escalation Translating incident, issue, RCSA and control data into clear, actionable insights and emerging risk themes for senior management and governance forums Coordinating operational risk engagement for material projects and change initiatives, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and managed throughout delivery Leading, coaching and developing operational risk team members, building capability, consistency and confidence in risk judgement Contributing to broader risk and compliance initiatives and the ongoing uplift of Pepper’s risk maturity About you You’re a senior operational risk professional with strong experience in financial services, and you enjoy partnering with the business to improve risk outcomes while reinforcing accountability. You bring sound judgement, strong analytical capability and the confidence to challenge constructively at senior levels to support effective decision‑making. You’ll also bring: Extensive experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance or related roles within financial services Experience providing second‑line risk oversight, business partnering and senior‑level challenge Strong experience with incident and issue management, root cause analysis and remediation governance Experience supporting major projects or change initiatives from a risk perspective Proven people leadership experience, including coaching and developing risk professionals Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders Qualifications that are valued but not essential: A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, commerce, law or a related discipline Relevant professional qualifications At Pepper Money, collaboration is just as vital as your skills.
