The Opportunity Our client is seeking a strategic and highly experienced National Asset Manager to take accountability for the leadership, optimisation, and governance of all plant, equipment, and asset-related operations across their national business. In this pivotal role, you will ensure asset reliability, performance, and compliance while supporting project delivery through cost-effective, risk-managed, and future-ready asset strategies. You will provide national oversight across asset acquisition, maintenance, utilisation, capital planning, and data-driven decision-making. Leading cross-functional teams and engaging with executive stakeholders, you will drive operational excellence, reduce downtime, and align asset performance with broader business objectives. Key Responsibilities The National Asset Manager will be responsible for several core functional areas, ensuring the strategic and operational success of the asset portfolio. Key Responsibility Area Description National Asset Strategy & Lifecycle Management You will develop and execute long-term asset lifecycle management plans to optimise performance and manage risk. This includes overseeing asset acquisition, disposal, and renewal in alignment with financial goals. By evaluating asset performance data, you will drive initiatives that improve efficiency, reliability, and utilisation. Furthermore, you will lead national fleet planning, budgeting, and forecasting, partnering with operations teams to align asset availability with project requirements. Asset Maintenance Oversight Managing the national maintenance schedule is critical, ensuring compliance with preventative and reactive maintenance plans. You will establish performance benchmarks for asset condition and downtime, collaborating with regional teams to deliver consistent maintenance standards. Optimising maintenance costs against budget and championing predictive maintenance technologies are also key components of this function. HSEQ, Compliance, Auditing & Risk Management You will lead national audit programs and plant risk assessments, ensuring all assets meet OEM, HSEQ, WHS, and regulatory standards. Maintaining rigorous documentation for compliance, safety inspections, and asset certifications is essential. You will also develop and implement robust asset risk mitigation strategies, reporting on high-risk issues to executive stakeholders. Team Leadership & Supplier Management As a leader, you will mentor and develop a high-performing national asset and maintenance team. Managing national supplier relationships and service agreements to maximise commercial benefits is required. You must foster a safety-first, solution-oriented culture and ensure adequate workforce coverage across all geographies. Financial Performance & Reporting You will develop and manage the national asset budget, including capital expenditure (capex). Analysing cost trends to identify savings and efficiencies is vital. You will manage P&L reporting in conjunction with finance teams and present key performance indicators to executive leadership. Systems & Data Management Overseeing the integration and use of asset management systems (e.g., JobPac, CMMS, ERP) is required. You will ensure real-time asset tracking and leverage data analytics for strategic insights. Leading digital transformation initiatives within the asset function will help improve operational transparency.
