Our team works across Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STR), in-home support, mentoring, life skills, transport, and community engagement. About You You are emotionally mature, reliable, and highly accountable. You have proven experience working within the NDIS environment and understand the standards required in professional disability support. You communicate proactively and professionally with both clients and team members. You genuinely care about people, but you also understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries. You remain calm under pressure and can confidently navigate challenging physical and verbal behaviours. You are comfortable working with participants who are predominantly non-verbal and can adapt your communication style accordingly. You take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments. You are highly dependable, punctual, and organised. You are comfortable working autonomously without needing constant direction. You understand that disability support is not just about being kind it’s about delivering consistent, high-quality support that creates real outcomes. Known as a Disability Support Professional, you will be responsible for: Supporting participants within SIL environments across a 7-day rotating roster Completing regular overnight shifts and sleepovers as required (1–2 per week) Supporting participants within STR environments as required Building strong, professional, trust-based relationships with participants and families Assisting participants with daily living activities, routines, transport, and community access Supporting emotional wellbeing, independence, confidence, and social participation Encouraging life skill development and greater autonomy for participants Managing challenging physical and verbal behaviours calmly and professionally Maintaining accurate case notes, incident reports, behaviour documentation, and associated NDIS paperwork to required standards Communicating clearly and proactively with the broader support team and management Following safeguarding procedures, compliance requirements, and escalation protocols Representing EmpwrU professionally in every interaction Working collaboratively with team members to deliver exceptional participant outcomes Maintaining high standards of punctuality, presentation, reliability, and professionalism Creating safe, positive, and empowering environments for participants Goals You’ll Achieve in Your First Three Months You’ll develop a strong understanding of the EmpwrU culture, values, expectations, participant approach, and operational standards. You’ll build confidence in how we deliver support differently from traditional providers. You’ll learn our systems, documentation processes, communication standards, SIL expectations, and participant support requirements to ensure consistency, professionalism, and high-quality service delivery. You’ll quickly build trust with participants, contribute positively to the team environment, and get strong runs on the board by delivering reliable, high-quality support in complex real-world support environments.
