About the role : Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across buildings, plant, equipment and grounds with minimal supervision. Prioritise work orders, coordinate day-to-day tasks, support statutory compliance and provide guidance to junior staff and contractors—all with a resident‑centred approach. Key responsibilities: Plan and prioritise maintenance to meet service levels and minimise disruption to residents. Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and reactive repairs; document work accurately and on time. Perform minor building repairs (carpentry, patch/paint), basic plumbing, and basic mechanical/electrical tasks within legal scope (no live electrical work). Maintain tools, test/tag registers, temperature logs and asset records. Coordinate and escort contractors; verify inductions, SWMS, licences/insurances and permits; check quality and file service reports. Conduct or coordinate routine checks and statutory servicing (e.g., fire systems, emergency lighting/exit signage, HVAC, lifts, backflow systems, nurse call, hot water temperature controls) and support emergency drills. Assist with carpet and furniture cleaning along side the environmental team. Maintain grounds and external presentation (gardens, lighting, paths, signage, fencing, waste/recycling). Communicate clearly with residents and staff - give advance notice for disruptive works, respect privacy and dignity. About you: Required: Demonstrated maintenance/facilities experience operating with minimal supervision (aged care/health/regulated environment desirable). Practical skills in minor carpentry/painting, basic plumbing and basic mechanical/electrical tasks within legal scope. Working knowledge of WHS (risk assessment, permits to work, lock‑out/tag‑out) and chemical safety (SDS). Awareness of Infection Prevention & Control and the Aged Care Code of Conduct; resident‑centred communication. Able to prioritise, meet timeframes, read manuals/SDS, and use maintenance/work order software. Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain), work rights in Australia, current driver’s licence. Physically fit for inherent role requirements (standing/walking, bending, lifting up to 20 kg, ladder use); follows safe manual handling. Desirable: Trade qualification and/or Cert II/III First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights; Confined Space, EWP, asbestos awareness, test & tag, basic HVAC/irrigation.
