About the Role Climax Air Conditioning is seeking an experienced Construction Site Safety Officer (CSSO) to support a major project. This is a site-based, project-specific role, commencing end of June 2026 through to August 2027. You will play a key role in supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Work Health & Safety (WHS) across the project. Working closely with the Construction Manager and Project Manager, you will provide hands-on, proactive safety support to ensure compliance with project, company and legislative requirements. Key Responsibilities Support site WHS implementation, inductions and worker engagement Review and verify SWMS, permits and critical risk controls before work commences Conduct regular site inspections, observations and audits Monitor and close out corrective actions and non-compliances Deliver and coordinate toolbox talks and safety briefings Ensure compliance of plant, equipment and site access systems Support incident reporting, investigations and follow-up actions Monitor high-risk activities including: Working at heights Scaffold and temporary access Open edges and penetrations Falling object controls Support subcontractor WHS compliance and site readiness Maintain accurate WHS documentation and records About You You are a hands-on, proactive safety professional who is comfortable working onsite and engaging with workers and subcontractors. Essential Proven experience in a construction WHS / safety role Strong knowledge of construction WHS legislation and compliance Ability to review SWMS, permits and risk controls Experience conducting site inspections and hazard identification Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills White Card and current Driver Licence Desirable Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety First Aid qualification Experience in mechanical services / HVAC projects Familiarity with systems such as Procore or BuildPass
