The Economic and Regulatory Policy Unit within ACT Treasury is looking for a dynamic and motivated Senior Policy Officer to contribute to a small team of highly trained economists and policy officers. As a Senior Policy Officer, you will work progress key elements of core projects, work across Governments and contribute to the wellbeing of Canberrans through your advice and economic assessment. Your economic and policy experience will have a tangible impact in the ACT’s implementation of National Competition Policy reforms and in the development of important government initiatives such as climate change policy, energy reforms, utility pricing and regulatory policy. Eligibility/Other requirements Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Economics, Commerce, or another relevant field, are highly desirable. To be eligible for permanent employment within the ACTPS you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa. Note: This is a temporary position available from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2028 with the possibility of permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. The merit pool may be used for vacancies within the Economic Policy and Commercial Branch as well as the broader Economic and Financial Group.
