The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint an Irrigation Officer to join our Parks and Landscapes Service Team. You will be a passionate team player that has a genuine commitment to customer service. Key Responsibilities Assist in general horticultural maintenance tasks such as turf maintenance, planting, fertilising, and formative pruning. Identify weeds, pests and diseases and assist in appropriate management via mechanical, cultural and chemical control methods. Routine site clean-up and damage inspections. Collect all litter, debris and hazardous materials and dispose of in an appropriate manner. Design, Installation and repair of minor irrigation systems as well as modifications and extensions to existing systems. Repair electrical and hydraulic aspects related to irrigation systems, including automatic valves and controllers, and a working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Monitor and adjust irrigation application rates to sustain healthy turf and plant condition, whilst adhering to water allocations and water budgeting principals. To be considered for this position, you will need Experience in parks and gardens or a similar environment, including practical experience with horticultural plant and equipment. Working knowledge, fault diagnosis and the ability to repair electrical and hydraulic aspects related to irrigation systems, including automatic valves and controllers, and a working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Practical experience in monitoring and adjusting irrigation application rates to sustain healthy turf and plant condition, whilst adhering to water allocations and water budgeting principles. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to operate as an effective and productive team member. Sound knowledge of safe work practices and traffic/pedestrian management principles. Current WA ‘C’ class drivers’ licence Basic Worksite Traffic Management White card/blue card.
