The Role Reporting to the Head of Finance and partnering closing with the FP&A and Finance Managers, this role is integral to developing a best in class Finance function. You’ll support critical month-end close processes, including journal preparation and posting, while developing and enhancing key Excel models to improve financial accuracy, insight, and efficiency. In addition, you’ll oversee the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring effective system management and appropriate user access controls. What you’ll do Complete month-end close processes including trial balance analysis and GL mapping, accrued expenses, prepayments and tax accounting. Deliver in‑depth cost centre commentary analysis and reviews, providing timely and accurate reports to business heads to support decision‑making, ensuring key understand of NGS business cost drivers. Conduct comprehensive balance sheet reviews in a timely and accurate manner to ensure financial accuracy and control, particularly for key superannuation balances. Prepare detailed financial analysis and technical accounting commentary for board-level reporting, including RACC and executive committee papers, supporting decision-making on complex transactions. Assist in the preparation of APRA regulatory returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission, including NGS cost allocation methodologies. Prepare pension bonus tax quarterly calculations. Prepare data for Payment Times Reporting submission. Monitor and reporting of capitalised software and other NGS technology transformation project costs. Assisting with monthly superannuation metrics reporting and delivery monthly Trustee Operation Reserve monitoring. Assist with audit processes, including preparation of workpapers and responding to audit queries. Contribute to process improvements, including automation initiatives and support for budgeting and forecasting. About you You’re a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Accountant who thrives on accuracy, enjoys working in ambiguity, and brings strong analytical capability, along with the following: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, with CA or CPA. 5yrs experience in audit or within a large, complex organisation (e.g. ASX-listed environment). Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Experience with MYOB Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, build simple scenario modelling ie: VLOOKUP's Strong communication skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach. Experience within the superannuation or financial services industry. Ability to work within ambiguity and deliver results. The following are nice to have but not essential: Knowledge of APRA regulations and prudential standards. Familiarity with financial modelling and scenario analysis tools. Experience working with outsourced service providers.
