The role A Home Assessor is responsible for attending (In person or virtually), inspecting and reporting on damage to domestic buildings of insured properties, ascertaining the best repair method, and providing a scope of work for Home Claims authorization. In addition, you will work closely with A & G’s panel of builders, ensuring they perform repairs to our customers’ homes to a high standard, in a timely fashion, and for a fair and reasonable price. What you’ll be doing Access the damage Attend customer sites or review reports/photos to validate damage and repair costs. Determine causation and apply PDS coverage appropriately. Explain assessment outcomes, coverage, approvals and repair processes to customers. Maintain communication throughout the claim lifecycle regarding coverage and timeframes. Provide recommendations aligned with CHaFS, GICOP and A&G PDS requirements. Prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders. Identify/manage claim risks and authorise Make Safe & Restoration works. Escalate vulnerable customer or financial hardship matters promptly. Maintain a strong safety and risk culture on-site. Scope the damage Use industry knowledge and A&G tools to prepare and review repair scopes and claim reserves. Update stakeholders through large loss meetings and claim system reserves. Ensure repair methodology aligns with PDS coverage. Engage and interpret specialist reports to support scope creation. Negotiate Negotiate sustainable and competitive repair costs with suppliers and customers in line with PDS and industry standards. Support the team Assist internal stakeholders with enquiries regarding contents, temporary accommodation and cash settlements. Project Manage Manage end-to-end repairs with a strong customer focus and milestone engagement. Oversee repair scope, defects, cost variations and payment approvals. Complete final repair audits and address defects, concerns or supplier performance issues. What experience you’ll bring Experience in managing quality building work and enhancing customer satisfaction; Background in producing accurate scopes of works; Exceptional time management and organisational skills; Reputable communication skills and conflict resolution handling; Experience in managing, coaching and appraising builders; Proven experience in building effective business relationships with builders; Insurance experience preferred, but not essential.
