ABOUT THE ROLE This is a 6 month fixed-term opportunity. Reporting to the Coordinator Placement Services, this position will be part of a larger team seeking to implement a culturally responsive model of Out of Home Care providing Group Foster Care and Community Foster Care options across Perth’s Metropolitan areas. Specifically, this role will work with Children, Young People and their supports to implement outcomes identified in case planning through Wungening's Moorditj Djerripin Koorlungas Assessment Framework (MDK) and the Department of Communities Care Plan. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (address this in your cover letter) A courageous ‘can-do’ attitude as a team member of a transformational program that will change the Out of Home Care experience for Aboriginal Children; Young People; Families and Communities. Experience working with children and families in an Out of Home Care or Child Protection setting. Experience of working to an empowerment and self-determination model of case work. Ability to take instruction and show initiative and creativity. Respectful appreciation of Children and Young People’s journey through their care journey. Commitment to upholding professional standards of practice including keeping relevant non-judgemental case notes, writing reports, participating in planning for Children and Young People. Understanding of the history of Children and Young People in the child protection and care system and impacts of past polices. Demonstrable commitment to empowering and respecting children and young people. Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
