The Southern Hotel is located in Gawler. We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef to join our kitchen team. The position is fulltime, and the salary range is $70000 - $80000 (depending on experience). Several positions available Main Duties • Upholding exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene • Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes typical of a modern Australian Bistro • Always keeping the kitchen and equipment immaculate • Manage inventory and liaise with suppliers to maintain stock levels • Assist in training junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and positive kitchen environment • Assisting the Head Chef in managing financial KPIs, including wages and cost of goods • Providing an exceptional food experience to ensure our regular customers return again and again, and to attract new business Requirements • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) • At least two years of experience in a similar role in a fast-paced bistro environment • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong multitasking skills • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring and team development Commitment to delivering outstanding dining experiences • Ability to work across a seven day roster • Strong communication and time management skills. • Experience with pub/bistro cuisine is essential Employer questions Your application should answer the following questions: • Do you have the right to work in Australia? • Do you hold a current Safe Food Handling certificate? • Do you have experience as a chef in a high volume restaurant? • How many years' experience do you have as a chef? • What cuisine types do you have experience with? • Have you worked in a role which requires a sound understanding of OH&S/WHS? • Are you available to work on a rotating roster? • Do you hold a current Food Safety certificate?
