Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprenticeship Job ID 6982 Type Full time Location St Lucia, QLD Positions 1 Apply Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprenticeship The Opportunity Partnered with our host University of Queensland , we are looking for a motivated HVAC Apprentice to join the team while completing a UEE32220 Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration . This position would suit a first year apprentice with a genuine interest in HVAC systems. This position is full-time and based in St Lucia , working across the University of Queensland facilities. Job Details University of Queensland is one of Australia’s leading universities, and its St Lucia campus features a large mix of teaching, research and community facilities across an expansive site. This apprenticeship offers the chance to support HVAC maintenance and installations across a diverse campus environment. You will be mentored by qualified tradespeople while completing a blend of on-the-job training and formal study, building practical skills in HVAC maintenance, installation, testing and fault finding. Your duties will include, but are not limited to: Assist qualified HVAC technicians with maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, equipment and infrastructure across UQ facilities Support installation of HVAC plant, ductwork, pipework, controls and associated equipment Assist with testing, fault finding and troubleshooting of HVAC systems under supervision Learn and apply safe work practices and comply with all WHS, refrigeration and environmental regulations Support preventative maintenance programs for HVAC plant and equipment and assist with documentation including maintenance records and service reports Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition, participate in structured training, and complete other duties as requested by the Supervisor Benefits Full-time 4-year contract with annual and personal leave benefit Paid weekly for steady earnings Access to personalised 1:1 mentoring Opportunity to access Government support payments up to $2,500 during the apprenticeship About You The successful candidate will have a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine interest in building a career in HVAC and refrigeration. You will ideally have good communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the willingness to learn while working safely across campus sites. The role involves local travel between work areas and exposure to hazards such as refrigerants and gases, working at heights, manual handling of plant and equipment, rotating machinery, confined spaces and noise. Noise exposure above workplace standards is unlikely, and PPE would be provided if required.
