Position: Telecommunications Network Planner Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum Location: Adelaide SA 5000 Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunications Network Planner to join their telecommunications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and supporting customer access telecommunications network infrastructure across fibre optic, copper, structured cabling, and data communication systems. The role involves analysing network requirements, preparing infrastructure layouts, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring all telecommunications activities comply with Australian standards and regulations. Key Duties and Responsibilities: ·Plan and develop customer access telecommunications network infrastructure including fibre optic, copper, and structured cabling systems. ·Design structured cabling layouts, fibre backbone systems, pit-to-pillar connections, and telecommunications infrastructure solutions. ·Configure and integrate telecommunications technologies with computer hardware, operating systems, routers, switches, databases, and network systems. ·Install, maintain, diagnose, and support telecommunications systems including microwave, telemetry, multiplexing, satellite, radio, and electromagnetic communication systems. ·Conduct fibre optic fusion splicing, OTDR testing, power meter testing, fault diagnostics, and network commissioning activities. ·Monitor telecommunications network performance and provide operational support in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and resolving network faults and defects. ·Interpret network diagrams, technical drawings, and telecommunications infrastructure plans. ·Prepare and maintain technical documentation including network records, testing reports, compliance reports, inventory logs, policies, procedures, and quality standards. ·Ensure all telecommunications infrastructure activities comply with ACMA regulations, AS/CA S009 standards, workplace safety requirements, and company procedures. ·Liaise with vendors, suppliers, contractors, service providers, and external stakeholders regarding project delivery and technical requirements. ·Monitor contractor performance and ensure contractual obligations and technical standards are achieved. ·Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding telecommunications network optimisation, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. Qualifications and Experience Required ·Advanced Diploma or higher qualification in Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field. ·Minimum 1 year of relevant industry experience in telecommunications network planning, telecommunications infrastructure, fibre optic systems, or network support. ·Experience in customer access network infrastructure, structured cabling systems, fibre optic installation, and telecommunications network configuration. ·Knowledge of telecommunications standards, ACMA regulations, and AS/CA S009 compliance requirements. ·Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A cabling, fibre optic installation, fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and telecommunications diagnostic tools. ·Experience configuring routers, switches, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and related network technologies. ·Familiarity with Fluke testers, OTDR equipment, fusion splicers, power meters, and telecommunications testing equipment. ·Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills. Desirable Skills ·Experience working on fibre optic, wireless, NBN, or telecommunications infrastructure deployment projects. ·Knowledge of network optimisation, infrastructure planning, and telecommunications fault analysis. ·Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
