Global Engineering & Construction (GEC) is growing rapidly across the energy, mining and infrastructure sectors and we’re looking for an IT Engineer to support our expanding operations and project footprint across Australia. About the Role This is far more than a standard IT Officer support role. You’ll play a hands-on part in keeping our teams connected across both office and remote project environments, from deploying hardware and onboarding new employees through to supporting site connectivity solutions, including Starlink installations for regional operations. While this Brisbane CBD based role initially commences as a 6-month contract, there is genuine long-term potential for the right person as the business continues to grow. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone wanting exposure to large-scale operations, varied technical challenges and the chance to build credibility within a high-performing and collaborative team. Reporting directly to the IT Manager, you’ll support day-to-day IT operations across both corporate and site-based environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and thrives in a hands-on technical environment. With purpose, respect and a driven mindset, you’ll contribute by: Providing Level 1 / Level 2 IT support across office and remote site operations Troubleshooting hardware, laptops, mobile devices, and Microsoft 365 environments Building, configuring and deploying end-user hardware and equipment Supporting onboarding and setup of new employees Assisting with networking, Wi-Fi, and remote connectivity solutions Supporting remote project sites including Starlink satellite internet setup and troubleshooting Maintaining IT documentation, asset registers, and hardware lifecycle tracking Working closely with operational teams to minimise downtime and ensure smooth business operations. Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role: We’re looking for someone with a strong customer-service mindset who enjoys solving problems and working closely with the business. To be successful, you will ideally bring: Previous experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 Service Desk / IT Support role Strong Microsoft 365 support experience Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware, laptops, and mobile devices Exposure to networking and remote connectivity environments Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach A values-driven mindset with a strong cultural fit focus. Highly regarded but not essential: Experience with Starlink or satellite internet connectivity solutions Exposure to Azure / Entra AD environments Experience supporting remote or regional operations.
