Our products are used by major casinos worldwide to improve game security, operational efficiency, and player tracking. Our Australian office on the Gold Coast is responsible for hardware R&D, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing preparation for products deployed globally. We are a multidisciplinary engineering team working across electronics, embedded systems, mechanics, testing, and manufacturing support. About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Hardware Test & NPI Engineer to join our Test Engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working closely with real hardware systems, debugging complex issues, improving product reliability, and helping products transition successfully from prototype into manufacturing. You will work across the full product lifecycle, collaborating closely with electronics, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to validate products, improve testability, and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Key Responsibilities Hardware validation, troubleshooting, and debugging Develop and improve hardware and embedded system test procedures Design and build test fixtures, test jigs, and automated test solutions Support NPI activities and manufacturing readiness Investigate root causes of hardware and firmware issues Perform board bring-up and prototype validation Contribute to Design for Test (DFT), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) improvements Work closely with design engineers to improve product reliability and serviceability Support prototype assembly, verification, and field issue investigation Skills & Experience We are looking for practical engineers with strong hands-on experience in embedded systems and electronics. Essential: Experience working with embedded systems and electronics hardware Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills Experience with microcontrollers such as STM32, ARM Cortex, PIC, AVR, ESP32 or similar Embedded C/C++ experience Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, JTAG/SWD debuggers Familiarity with communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, GPIO Ability to read and understand schematics Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams Highly regarded: Experience with hardware validation or manufacturing support Experience with test automation or test fixture development PCB design/review experience (Altium or similar) Experience with RTOS or embedded Linux Exposure to DFM / DFT / DFA principles Experience supporting products through prototype and manufacturing stages Why Join WDTS?
