About the role We are seeking Registered and Endorsed Enrolled nurses for immediate start! As a Carers ACT Clinical Support Nurse, you would be responsible for ensuring client intake, assessment, and care planning activities are clinically sound, person-centred, and aligned with organisational and legislative standards in our “Home away from Home” Respite cottages. Your core responsibilities would be focused on providing nursing expertise in the assessment of clients with low to moderate symptoms of dementia, supporting non-clinical staff to deliver safe and quality care, and embedding clinical governance practices within the cottages, Disability Day program “the Hub”, and Day Respite Centre in Spence. You will model professional behaviours that build staff capability, promote a culture of safety and respect, and contribute to high quality outcomes for carers and clients. With multiple roles available, this opportunity would suit a wide range of nurses, from those who are just starting their journey and would like to grow their confidence under the supervision of our senior RN’s, to those who have broad cross sector experience and are looking for an autonomous senior role. Both options offer a flexible, community based and client centred role, which allow for ample time to build meaningful connection with clients and their families. Hours are variable and can be rostered in a pattern that suits you. The client mixes and daily duties are varied. Weekend work in short shifts is available if you are interested. No two days will be the same! Your duties would include: Clinical assessment of older adults seeking to engage with Carers ACT services Clinical advice and support to non-clinicians within our organisation including education and competency assessment Risk, safety and compliance activities within the clinical governance scope Community engagement Quality and continuous improvement activities About You: Essential WWVP with NDIS Check (or willingness to obtain) Police Check AHPRA registration as a Registered or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Desirable 1 year experience (as a Nurse in Australia) Prior experience in an acute care clinical setting Undertaking audit and compliance activities as they relate to the Strengthened Aged Care Standards Experience mentoring and educating non-clinical staff Experience working in the Aged Care sector At Carers ACT, we take pride in fostering an inclusive environment and promoting a strong work-life balance.
