About the Role Unity Housing is seeking an experienced Housing Officer to join our friendly and supportive team located in Bowden on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Team Leader, the Housing Officer is responsible for: Managing tenancy and property matters in line with the Residential Tenancies Act and social housing requirements. Handling lease renewals, tenant enquiries, allocations and sign-ups, tenancy debt, neighbourhood disputes and complaints, and attending case conferences and SACAT when required. Completing property inspections to a high standard, including routine, follow-up, ingoing and outgoing inspections, and managing breaches in line with policy. Maintaining accurate tenancy records, case notes, database updates, and key management. Building and maintaining strong relationships with support agencies through regular communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement to achieve positive tenant outcomes. The successful candidate will require a current driver’s licence and may be required to undertake some regional travel. Submitting and maintaining a current driver's licence, satisfactory police, DHS working with children check and NDIS workers check is a condition of employment for this position. About You With at least two years’ experience in tenancy management within private or community housing, you bring confidence and capability to managing complex tenancy environments. You thrive in fast-paced settings, particularly where high tenancy turnover and transitional housing programs require strong coordination and responsiveness. You are confident supporting vulnerable tenants, including those with complex needs, challenging behaviours, homelessness backgrounds, offending histories, or involvement in supported care arrangements. You handle difficult conversations, set clear boundaries, and take appropriate action when required, while maintaining a respectful and customer-focused approach. Highly organised and self-sufficient, you can manage competing priorities independently while maintaining strong attention to detail, confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity. You also bring strong administrative, communication, and IT skills, and work collaboratively within a team, contributing to open communication and a supportive working environment. High level of administration experience and advanced computer skills, including the use of data bases, web-based applications, and Microsoft Suite, ideally gained in a housing or real estate environment. Ability to work efficiently and independently to meet work targets and deadlines with minimal supervision and able to work in a collaborative and proactive manner with flexibility to support team and colleagues. Experience working with people with challenging behaviours and empathy for people with multiple and complex barriers to sustaining a successful tenancy. High level of interpersonal skills and ability to establish professional relationships with key agency stakeholders to facilitate collaborative effort for identified client needs and support. Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements that relate to working in the field with complex tenants.
