About Us: The Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Unit (NMERU) provides a recognised reference point for the educational and training support to nursing and midwifery staff within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS). The Nursing and Midwifery education team support the professional development of nursing and midwifery staff working in general acute, specialist areas and community environments across urban, rural, and regional centres through the development of innovative and dynamic strategies (including simulation) within the education programs. The education team works collaboratively with Nursing and Midwifery leaders across the health service to meet organisational priorities and support excellence in patient care. The Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research unit team participates in active collaborative relationships with academic partners to facilitate clinical placements and opportunities for nursing and midwifery education and research. About You: Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders at the statewide network to develop and implement assessment, standards for practice, planning, review, and evaluation of educational programs for midwifery staff working within maternity services. Promotes a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring of novice/less experienced midwifery staff working within the maternity services across CHHHS. Fosters a positive culture of continuous quality improvement, including exemplary leadership practices and role-modelling behaviours, promoting cooperation and collaborative teamwork.
