Avondale University is seeking Learning and Teaching Support Officers on either part-time or full-time fixed-term contracts until end of 2026. Travel may be required between the Lake Macquarie and Wahroonga campuses. Be challenged and imagine with us This exciting role involves supporting University staff in the development and delivery of courses as well as supporting Avondale’s students. What will you do? Some of the main duties will include: Provide on-demand troubleshooting and timely resolution of LMS support requests in collaboration with Tech Services and the Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CASTL). Provide assistance for academic and support staff seeking to improve their skill with Avondale’s learning technologies by contributing to training sessions and the development of instructional resources. Undertake a range of operational and administrative tasks to assist staff & students, particularly equity group students, in the use of learning technologies including but not limited to the LMS, online classrooms, booking and appointment systems, and appropriate support tickets. Assist Learning Designers to support teaching staff in the appropriate and effective day-to-day use of learning technologies in accordance with learning and teaching standards. Collaborate and communicate with student support services and academic staff to ensure effective and appropriate holistic support for students, especially students-at-risk. Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and service standards in all communications. Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information. Maintain accurate records of activities and outcomes. Participate in continuous improvement processes to identify gaps and opportunities for refining university practice. Provide input and advice into relevant policies and procedures. About you To be successful in the Learning and Teaching Support Officer role, you will be a dynamic and responsive team player committed to providing guidance and support for Univeristy staff and students across a range of systems. Essential criteria A willingness to strongly support the mission, values, and ethos of Avondale. Completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. Proven experience in providing learning technology support and development in a higher education setting. Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt digital tools to a high standard, and to deliver training in the use of learning technologies. Proficiency in learning technologies including CANVAS, CANVAS Studio, Turnitin, Microsoft Office 365, and Zoom. Commitment to high-quality customer service, including providing advice and support using a variety of communication platforms. Cooperate with all work health and safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken and ensure that their actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others at Avondale. Desirable criteria Knowledge of pedagogical modes and practices, and experience supporting staff and students in the adoption of technology into their Learning & Teaching. Familiarity with Avondale University policies, procedures, or student administration systems.
