Skillforce Recruitment are sourcing Excavator Operators with Rigging or Dogging Tickets for various site base work in the Perth Metro Area . This assignment will run for approximately 6 - 12 weeks then continue onto other assignments. Key Responsibilities Operating Excavators: Digging, trenching, placing pipe, backfilling, and performing detailed excavation using various attachments. Dogging/Slinging Loads: Applying slinging techniques, inspecting lifting gear (chains, slings, shackles), and calculating load weights and centers of gravity. Directing Lifts: Using hand signals or radios to direct the excavator operator (or other cranes) during lifting operations, particularly when the load is out of view. Safety & Compliance: Ensuring lifting procedures comply with safety regulations,, conducting pre-start checks, and performing minor machine maintenance. Site Coordination: Working with ground crew and supervisors to place materials precisely, such as in deep trenches. Required Qualifications & Experience Licensing: A High Risk Work Licence (Class DG)is required to perform dogging tasks, such as directing a lift when the operator cannot see the load. Competency: Proven experience in operating various excavator sizes, often with 2 years of experience preferred. Skills: Strong understanding of ground disturbance, trenching, shoring standards, and lifting procedures. Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills for directing, reporting, and safety coordination.
