Description Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking an experienced Pipeline Inspector to help protect and secure critical gas transmission assets. Based in Derrimut , this hands‑on role plays a vital part in supervising third‑party works near live transmission pipelines and ensuring all activities are carried out safely, compliantly, and to client standards. You’ll be out on site, working closely with asset owners, contractors, councils, and internal teams to make sure pipelines remain protected while essential works are delivered. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a safety‑focused professional with strong pipeline inspection experience who can confidently manage site activities and stakeholder relationships. Key responsibilities include: Supervising third‑party works within 3 metres of transmission pipelines Protecting pipeline assets by enforcing permit conditions and client procedures Monitoring works for safety, environmental and asset impacts Identifying hazards and potential risks, and reporting incidents or near misses Managing and auditing pipeline patrol activities Liaising with clients, contractors, councils and asset owners Preparing inspection reports, incident notifications and audit documentation Supporting coating repair projects, including reporting and coordination Promoting Downer’s Zero Harm and sustainability culture on every site You’ll bring: Proven experience in gas transmission pipeline inspection and patrol Relevant pipeline patrolling and inspection training Strong knowledge of client procedures (e.g. AusNet, APA, Mobil – PIO‑B & E) A current driver’s licence Solid understanding of site safety and legislative requirements Clear communication skills and confidence dealing with multiple stakeholders Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail A self‑motivated, reliable and safety‑first approach to work What We Offer At Downer, we back our people and provide an environment where you can do your best work.
