Our client is looking for a highly capable Construction Manager who can lead from the front, build strong teams and take ownership of the operational delivery of our projects. This is a senior role within a respected Sunshine Coast Commercial Builder with an excellent reputation, strong systems and a practical, no-politics culture. Role Purpose The Construction Manager is responsible for leading operational performance across the business on behalf of the Director. This role is suited to a leader who is comfortable rolling their sleeves up when required. While the position is strategic in nature, the right person will earn respect through action, practical decision making and a willingness to support the team on site when projects need it most. This is not a desk only management role. You will work closely with the Director in a business where decisions are made quickly, standards are high, and good people are trusted. Key Responsibilities include Project Delivery & Programme Control Oversee multiple commercial projects from commencement through to completion and be willing to jump in where necessary to assist Ensure all projects are delivered on time and within approved budgets Monitor construction programmes and intervene early to mitigate delays Drive accountability across Site Managers/Supervisors and subcontractors, thinking outside the box where needed to ensure projects continue to flow efficiently Maintain strict control over variations, extensions of time and cost exposure Work closely with Procurement Manager and Estimator for accurate data, planning, purchase orders and project efficiencies Commercial & Financial Oversight Monitor project budgets, cost tracking and forecasting Protect project margins through disciplined procurement and trade management Review subcontractor agreements and performance Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies Work closely with Directors on financial reporting and performance metrics Leadership & Team Performance Lead and mentor Site Managers and key project personnel Set clear expectations around site standards, reporting and performance Foster a disciplined, high-accountability culture across all sites Build strong, respectful relationships with sub-contractors on site Promote teamwork across Director, administration, site teams and trades Address underperformance directly and professionally Client & Consultant Management Act as primary operational contact for key clients and consultants Maintain strong, transparent communication throughout project lifecycle Manage expectations while protecting programme and budget integrity Uphold the business’s reputation for professionalism and reliability Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure strict adherence to HSE standards and site safety protocols Work with the Operations Manager when required to ensure SWMS compliance and regulatory obligations are met Conduct regular site reviews to maintain presentation and quality standards Enforce Australian commercial construction compliance requirements Ensure defects are minimised and handovers are professionally executed Systems & Reporting Oversee reporting through Site Book, Buildertrend or equivalent systems Ensure accurate, timely reporting from all sites Maintain visibility of programme status, risks and resource allocation Implement process improvements where required to drive efficiency Required Skills & Experience Candidates must have extensive previous experience in commercial construction management Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Building and Construction not essential but highly desirable Have a demonstrated proven track record delivering multiple projects concurrently Have strong commercial acumen and cost-control expertise Be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of Australian construction regulations and compliance. Hold a valid current QBCC Site Supervisors Licence Have demonstrated leadership experience of Site Managers and subcontractor teams Have a high-level competency in construction management systems Have strong negotiation and contract management capability Be a clear, confident communicator Ideal Candidate Profile Success in this role will be measured by the ability to build strong site leadership, maintain programme confidence across multiple projects, protect commercial outcomes, and continue strengthening the company’s reputation with clients and consultants.
