Mad Monkey Backpackers have a vacancy for 1x Accommodation Managers at our Cairns properties. Successful applicants will have previous experience in the international youth market. Successful candidates will be employed at one of our Cairns sites and to be willing to relocate as required. Position Description Manage and lead a team of service staff on the day-to-day duties Arrange staffing rosters, staff training & development Oversee all maintenance issues reporting them to appropriate trade or maintenance staff Maintain hostel facilities are clean and in proper working order Create and follow a plan to maintain good atmosphere in the hostel Ensure quality standards and local government compliance is up to date Maintain social media & marketing programmes for the hostel Weekly management reporting including KPI’s and customer reviews Conduct check in and check out procedures Ensure a culture of safety is maintained by staff in the workplace Ensuring proper procedures are in place for health and safety for the hostel Maintaining high level of customer care for international visitors Essential Criteria At least 2 years’ experience in managing a medium sized team (12 or more people) At least 1 years’ experience working in the backpacker’s accommodation industry Experience of using Cloudbeds reservations system & updating OTA’s with relation to pricing and availability Experience of using Whistle Guest management software High level of customer service skills, excellent communication & effective time management Basic computer skills and competency in word and excel Availability to work evenings and weekends on a rolling roster Application Deadline: 16th of June 2026
