Underground Superintendent We are currently seeking an experienced Underground Superintendent to join our operations across Southern Australia. This role is suited to a motivated mining professional who demonstrates strong leadership capability, operational discipline, and a commitment to safety and production excellence within an underground mining environment. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Underground Superintendent will provide leadership and direction to underground operations, ensuring mining activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all legislative and company requirements. The role will oversee Shift Supervisors and underground crews while driving continuous improvement in safety, productivity, cost control, and workforce performance. This position is offered on an 8:6 roster across Southern Australian mine sites. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage underground mining operations to achieve production and development targets safely and efficiently. Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to Underground Shift Supervisors and operational crews. Ensure compliance with all relevant Acts, Regulations, statutory obligations, and site policies and procedures. Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership, field interactions, inspections, and proactive hazard management. Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly operational planning activities in conjunction with technical and site services teams. Monitor operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency. Manage workforce allocation, equipment utilisation, and operational priorities to meet client and project requirements. Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action implementation. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, site stakeholders, and support departments. Contribute to budgeting, cost management, and operational reporting requirements. Promote continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices across site activities. Requirements Extensive underground mining experience, including leadership within underground hard rock operations. Previous experience in a Superintendent, Senior Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role preferred. Strong development mining background highly regarded. Current Shift Supervisor qualification/ticket relevant to the operating state. Current S26 certificate (or equivalent statutory qualification). Demonstrated understanding of underground mining legislation and statutory compliance requirements. Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in demanding operational environments. Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills. Current and valid Australian Manual Driver’s Licence. Current First Aid Certificate. Full Australian working rights. Ability to meet pre-employment requirements including medical assessment, National Police Clearance, and drug and alcohol screening.
