We are seeking a calm, patient, and reliable support worker to assist our client 3 days per week. The primary purpose of the role is help attending appointments, accessing the community safely, and providing gentle guidance with budgeting and day‑to‑day decision‑making. Our client is a friendly and expressive woman who enjoys talking, reflecting, and sharing her experiences. She often speaks continuously unless gently redirected, and her thoughts may move quickly as memories come to mind. She has experienced significant bullying earlier in life, which means she can become triggered easily. A support worker who is emotionally aware, steady, and respectful will be essential for building trust and maintaining comfort during community outings. Our client is very open about her life experiences, her choices, challenges, periods of employment, and difficulties staying with things long-term. She once completed a hairdressing course and enjoys talking about past interests and possibilities. This role would suit someone who is grounded, practical, and confident supporting a person who may become easily overwhelmed due to past trauma experiences. Shift times: 17 hours 3 x shifts per week, days and times flexible. We’re looking for someone who · Has a larger vehicle to comfortably transport. (KMs with client in the car paid) · Is preferably male, though she is open to the right female worker. · Can remain calm, supportive, and grounded when our client becomes talkative or moves quickly between thoughts and memories. · Can gently interrupt and help bring conversations back on track when needed. · Can provide soft, respectful guidance around budgeting and making more sustainable financial choices. · Is comfortable supporting someone who is currently experiencing homelessness, without pushing the topic or trying to “fix” it before she is ready. · Understands trauma-informed practice and can maintain emotional safety and predictability. · Is reliable, non‑judgmental, and patient. Key responsibilities Transport to and from local appointments. Provide supportive community engagement in a safe and predictable manner. Gently assist with money management and basic budgeting conversations. Help our client stay focused during conversations in a kind, non‑confrontational way. Maintain a trauma‑informed, person‑centred approach at all times. Ensure a calm, respectful, and consistent presence. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is empathetic, reliable, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in a young person’s life. It's not all on you though, as you will have support in this via a dedicated QSSS Support Specialist as well as training provided by experiences Support Workers and a Behavioural Support Practitioner who can assist you in ensuring you are absolutely set up to have an awesome time with this person. QSSS hourly rates are Weekday $35.66, Evening $38.30, Night $39.33, Saturday $48.65, Sunday $62.62, Public Holidays $76.38 - (sorry, rate not negotiable). We also support our staff through our EAP service which offers 4 x free counselling sessions where required, as well as discounted physiotherapy sessions at select physio practices while also having the assurance of consistency of C lients you support.
