Roma, southwest Queensland, is approximately 500km west of Brisbane and sits at the heart of the Maranoa region. Covering 58,830km and home to more than 13,000 residents, the region blends a proud agricultural industry with continuous expansion in the energy and tourism sectors. It is also a regional hub and gateway to the outback, offering a relaxed and affordable country lifestyle. Maranoa Regional Council is seeking a capable and collaborative professional to join this newly created role and help shape how the organisation works into the future. Sitting within the Governance & Risk Services team, you will work across the business to review current processes, identify inefficiencies and support practical, evidence-based improvements that strengthen internal performance, service delivery and customer outcomes. Reporting to the Manager Governance & Risk Services, you will lead and support structured service reviews and business improvement initiatives across Council. From mapping current and future state processes to analysing baseline data, facilitating conversations with business units and developing clear recommendations, you will play a key role in helping teams work smarter and deliver stronger outcomes. This is a genuine opportunity to make your mark in a role with visibility across the organisation. Council has recently moved to a new organisational structure, creating strong scope for this position to bring greater consistency, efficiency and clarity to the way work is done. Early priorities are likely to focus on documenting current-state processes, building credibility with stakeholders and delivering practical improvement projects that create lasting value. You will bring strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, experience in business improvement, process mapping or service review work, and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of personalities. You will be comfortable thinking strategically and practically, using data, workflows and user experience to identify issues, shape workable solutions and communicate insights clearly to different audiences. If you enjoy combining analytical thinking with initiative, sound judgement and a personable approach, this is a chance to contribute to meaningful change in a complex and diverse service environment. A degree in business, public administration, analytics, engineering or a related field is preferred, along with experience in business improvement, analytics or process review. Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Visio, Power BI or similar, and exposure to local government, public sector, audit or risk environments, will be well regarded.
