Roma, southwest Queensland, is approximately 500km west of Brisbane and sits at the heart of the Maranoa region. Covering 58,830km and home to more than 13,000 residents, the region blends a proud agricultural industry with continuous expansion in the energy and tourism sectors. It is also a regional hub and gateway to the outback, offering a relaxed and affordable country lifestyle. Maranoa Regional Council is responsible for a diverse regional portfolio of community spaces, corporate buildings and public facilities that play an important role in daily life across the region. This is an opportunity to step into a visible leadership role where your work will have a direct impact on the presentation, safety and functionality of spaces used by staff, residents and visitors every day. Reporting to the Manager Facility & Property Services, this newly created role is all about creating structure, building capability and lifting service delivery across Council's facilities portfolio. You will lead a small operational team and take ownership of the day-to-day running of offices, halls, showgrounds, ovals and other community assets, making sure they are safe, compliant, functional and ready to support community use. It is a genuine opportunity to make your mark. You will help move the service from a reactive maintenance model to a more planned and proactive approach, while improving systems, supporting facility users and bringing greater coordination to an evolving operational environment. From bookings, caretaking and cleaning through to minor works and contractor oversight, you will play a key role in creating reliable, customer-focused services that communities can count on. You will be a practical, organised and confident leader who knows how to get things done and bring people with you. You will bring sound facilities or maintenance operations experience, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors and community stakeholders. If you are someone who can balance day-to-day operational demands with longer-term improvements, and you enjoy building structure, accountability and service quality, this is a role where you can add real value. A current C Class Driver Licence and White Card are required, and relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in facilities, asset, building or property services are desirable. Experience in local government or a similar multi-site environment will be well regarded, particularly where you have worked across maintenance, compliance, contractor management or community-facing facilities.
