We are seeking a motivated, experienced Senior Community Safety Officer to support the delivery of high‑quality regulatory services to our community. This role plays a leadership and technical support function within Ranger Services, providing expert advice on legislation, supporting complex investigations, and assisting with the day‑to‑day coordination of operational activities. About the Role The Senior Community Safety Officer supports the delivery of a broad range of community safety and compliance activities, including: Animal management Parking and local law enforcement Fire prevention and bushfire management Investigations and legal processes. Key Responsibilities Undertake complex investigations and prepare legal documentation. Provide guidance and mentoring to Ranger Services team members. Assist with day-to-day coordination of operations, rosters, and escalated customer queries. Support the implementation of fire prevention strategies and animal management plans. Deliver high-quality customer service and represent Council positively. Identify and implement process improvements and contribute to policy development. Coordinating and mentoring the team on operational tasks. Back‑up to Community Safety Officers and Parking Rangers when required. About You We’re looking for someone who: Possesses sound knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement practices. Holds a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent experience. Has strong leadership and mentoring skills. Demonstrates excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities. Is community-minded, approachable, and resilient. Country Fire Service Fire Prevention Officer Course (attained or completed at the next course availability) Has experience in fire prevention management and animal control. Holds an unencumbered South Australian Driver’s Licence. This position is offered as a permanent, full-time basis classified at Level 5 competency based on skills and experience under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023. You will be required to undertake a National Police Check as part of the on-boarding process and must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.
