Our national General Insurance practice advises on and manages litigated claims for a number of major insurers, reinsurers and corporates, and on behalf of significant clients in a wide variety of industries. We sit on the legal panels of Australia’s top general insurers, as well as a number of other local and international insurers. This role will focus primarily on defending compulsory third party ( CTP ) claims on behalf of insurers, including those involving complex liability and quantum issues, in addition to workers compensation and public liability claims. There are also opportunities to work for our government clients. You will be responsible for and have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervision. You will be responsible for: reviewing documents and preparation of chronologies; drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties; conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements; preparing briefs for counsel; drafting Court documents and attending Court; drafting advices; drafting letters of instruction to experts; and legal research. About you You will ideally have the following skills and experience: between 1 and 5 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law; ideally you will have experience in CTP, however we are also open to meeting candidates with experience in workers compensation, public liability, property insurance (including recoveries, defence and indemnity) and abuse claims; a genuine interest in contributing to the growth and success of our insurance practice in Adelaide; clear, concise legal writing skills; and strong attention to detail.
