Computer Systems Officer Level 4 Ongoing Full-Time Sydney Olympic Park About us The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including more than 4,000 administrative employees who support the sworn officers that provide a range of law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the socially, geographically and culturally diverse community of NSW. About the role We have an opportunity for a Cyber Security Engineer to be part of our Cyber Security, Technology & Communication Services. The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining technical security controls that safeguard NSWPF digital infrastructure, applications, and data. The role contributes to secure system design and delivery by applying cyber security standards, supporting risk mitigation, and enabling compliance with relevant policies and frameworks. The role embeds security into technology platforms and supporting operational resilience, which helps protect sensitive law enforcement information and supports the organisation’s mission to uphold public safety and trust. Protect systems that matter to the community Work on mission‑critical, real‑world systems that directly support public safety and frontline policing. Your security decisions will have tangible impacts beyond commercial outcomes. Complex, high‑stakes technical environments Gain hands‑on experience securing hybrid and legacy environments alongside modern cloud platforms, where solutions must be resilient, pragmatic, and operationally safe—far beyond “greenfield” security scenarios. Engineering‑focused cyber role Ideal for practitioners who enjoy building, tuning, and integrating technical controls (SIEM, endpoint protection, application control, cloud security) rather than purely governance or advisory work. Develop rare expertise in implementing strong security controls without disrupting critical operations, user experience, or time‑critical services—a highly transferable and respected capability. Professional growth and credibility Strengthen your profile by working in an environment that values engineering depth, operational resilience, and real‑world security problem solving, not just theoretical controls.
