Apply nowShortlist About the role As an Aviation Logistics Specialist during your Gap Year, you’ll work as part of a team to provide critical air movement services to support a range of ADF activities, such as humanitarian and disaster relief missions, conflict operations, and multinational exercises. What you'll do No two days will be the same in this dynamic role, as you undertake a range of aviation logistics tasks. You’ll provide specialist logistics support through the provision of air terminal services, road movements, aircraft refuelling services and joint movement operations and planning. You may also get the opportunity to travel (as part of a team) to undertake aviation logistics tasks in other locations within Australia. Training and skills An ADF Gap Year is an exciting opportunity to experience life in the ADF without making a long-term commitment. Your 12-month experience is divided up into stages. First, you’ll travel to a dedicated training facility to learn the military and job-specific skills you need. Then you’ll post to a unit to apply your newly learned skills as you are immersed in a team environment on base and on exercises. With paid training, you'll gain all the skills you need to make the most out of your Gap Year. Plus, you'll be supported by professional and enthusiastic Air Force personnel who’ll guide you to develop the skills you need. You’ll continue to receive training as part of your Gap Year to ensure you learn a range of skills that will benefit you, wherever your career takes you. Progression After finishing your Gap Year program, you can choose to continue your full-time career in the Air Force or change to a part-time role in the Air Force Reserve. There is no obligation to serve in the ADF beyond the 12-month Gap Year program period. You can take your new skills and experiences to gain an edge in future careers outside the ADF. You'll find detailed information on the Entry requirements tab. I am an Australian Citizen You need to be an Australian citizen to be eligible for the ADF Gap Year program. I am at least 16.5 years old You can start your application at 16.5 years, however, you’ll need to be 18 by the time you finish military training for your role. My background can be checked To obtain the minimum-security clearance, you must have lived in Australia or have a checkable background for the past 10 years. I have completed Year 10 You’ll need to have passed Year 10 English and Maths. I am reasonably fit and healthy Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare. I have a valid driver’s licence You’ll need a standard full, provisional or probationary Australian driver’s licence which is not suspended or cancelled.
