Due to ongoing expansion and increasing operational demands, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Melbourne branch located at 1269 North Road, Oakleigh VIC 3166. About the Role Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, this position will support the day-to-day financial and accounting operations of the business. This is a hands-on role suited to a candidate looking to further develop their accounting career within a long-standing and growing Australian business. The successful candidate will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll support, inventory costing, and compliance activities while working closely with senior management and the broader finance team. This is a full-time permanent position offering stability, professional growth, and exposure to a broad range of business operations including factory production, importation, warehousing, and project costing. Key Responsibilities Manage accounting systems, financial records, budgets, and internal controls to ensure compliance with organisational and statutory requirements. Prepare and present statutory and management financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and financial performance analysis. Monitor cash flow, operating costs, project expenditure, and overall financial performance to support business planning and decision-making. Prepare and manage taxation and compliance obligations, including BAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and ATO reporting requirements. Oversee financial transactions, including contract payments, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and financial regulations. Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and variances, and implement corrective actions where necessary. Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and risk assessments to support strategic and operational objectives. Provide financial and taxation advice to management on budgeting, cost control, profitability, and business performance improvement. Liaise with external auditors, financial institutions, insurers, and regulatory authorities regarding financial and compliance matters. Support audits, compliance reviews, and risk management initiatives, including fraud prevention measures. Review accounting software and financial management systems and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reporting accuracy. Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and contribute within a fast-paced environment. You will ideally have: Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience. Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, taxation, and compliance requirements. Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage competing priorities. Ability to communicate financial systems, procedures, and policies effectively to operational and administrative staff. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting software packages. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check. Ability to obtain and maintain any required work-related clearances.
