About the Work Health and Safety Advisor Role Reporting to the WHS Manager, this is a site-based WHS Advisor position supporting day-to-day construction activities on a major project in the Wollongong region. The role will involve working closely with supervisors, engineers, subcontractors, and frontline crews to ensure work is carried out safely and in accordance with project and legislative requirements. This is a highly visible, hands-on role suited to a proactive safety professional who enjoys being embedded in the field, engaging with workers, identifying hazards, and driving positive safety outcomes across multiple work fronts. The position will focus heavily on high-risk construction activities including lifting operations, scaffolding, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete works. Accommodation provided if required. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and field safety interactions across active construction areas Monitor high-risk activities including lifting operations, scaffold systems, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placement works Review SWMS, permits, and high-risk work documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements Support supervisors and site teams with pre-starts, toolbox talks, and daily safety engagement activities Identify hazards and assist with implementing practical risk controls on site Participate in incident investigations, corrective action tracking, and near-miss reporting processes Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, and audit documentation Promote workforce engagement and reinforce positive safety behaviours across site teams Support compliance with WHS legislation, project systems, and client requirements Skills & Experience Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent) Previous experience in a site-based construction safety role Strong understanding of high-risk construction activities and associated controls Experience working within civil, structural, infrastructure, or industrial construction environments Confident engaging with subcontractors, supervisors, and frontline workers on site Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced project environment White Card and current driver’s licence required First Aid and additional high-risk licences highly regarded Culture The business promotes a practical, team-oriented approach to safety and values individuals who are proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused.
