Senior Legislation Lawyer (Baseline Clearance) - $975 to $1400 daily rate inc super - initial 6 month secondment – Canberra Location (remote working arrangements considered) The Role Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Legislation Lawyer for a 6 month secondment to support the Legal Division within a high profile Commonwealth Department. This position is for a candidate with significant experience in legislation reform and development. The Responsibilities The position requires the successful candidate work to: regularly engage with policy officers and legislation drafters; prepare drafting instructions; issue ongoing instructions to the Office of Parliamentary Counsel; and draft advice on law design issues, particularly in relation to administrative, regulatory and energy law. The Requirements Extensive experience developing primary and subordinate Commonwealth legislation and legislative development projects and knowledge of or experience in energy and climate law would be highly regarded. Legal qualifications, a current practicing certificate (or ability to obtain one) and a Baseline Security Clearance are required.
