The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities. Your Impact: As a valued member of the Criminal Law Practice, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative and client support services to the Aboriginal Legal Service Canberra Office. You’ll help keep daily operations running smoothly by managing reception, coordinating court and client files, maintaining data records and supporting solicitors, clients and key stakeholders with professionalism, care and cultural respect. Each day, you will: Manage reception, office phones and provide day-to-day administrative support to the Criminal Law Practice team. Prepare, organise and maintain client files, court rosters, records and CMS database information. Liaise professionally with clients, solicitors, police, court staff, corrective services and key stakeholders. Provide high-quality document and word processing support, including legal correspondence and court documents. Support a professional, culturally safe and well-organised office environment while maintaining confidentiality and compliance. Work collaboratively with legal and administrative teams to deliver timely, culturally respectful support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
