We’re currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Brake Systems Engineer for our client, who are a global leader in the manufacture of braking systems. Based in Perth (South Eastern Suburbs), this role offers a mix of office-based engineering and site-based support. This is a customer-facing engineering role where you will act as a key technical point of contact, supporting the performance, reliability, and application of braking systems across freight operations. Please note that this role requires monthly or bi-monthly travel to site locations, typically involving short stays of 1–2 nights, with occasional longer trips. Roles and Responsibilities Act as the primary technical contact for customers, providing support and troubleshooting assistance Investigate system performance, failures, and reliability issues across braking systems Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation to support issue resolution Support commissioning, site activities, and field-based technical investigations Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and customer communications Assist project and aftermarket teams with technical queries, BOMs, and system requirements Contribute to internal engineering discussions and support product development teams Skills and Requirements Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar Basic understanding of electrical systems alongside mechanical fundamentals is essential Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, and engineering documentation Strong communication skills with the ability to engage directly with customers Comfortable working independently and managing workload without close supervision Must be an AU/NZ citizen or hold PR Willingness to travel to customer and test sites as required, including overnight stays About Us Heaton undertakes work both locally and internationally for some of the world’s best heavy industry organisations that make a positive difference to millions of people’s lives every day.
