CAAAPU is an Aboriginal Corporation which delivers culturally appropriate alcohol and other substance abuse rehabilitation, treatment programs and services to assist the people of Central Australia. CAAAPU endeavour to provide a safe and effective healing place that equips Aboriginal individuals and families with the tools to lead a healthy, active and productive life by increasing the recognition of the unique spiritual and cultural strengths of Aboriginal people to assist in healing choices and by providing leadership in the Aboriginal community in the areas of alcohol and other drug dependency. All positions within CAAAPU are dependent upon continued government funding. The Case Worker is responsible for the delivery of quality residential rehabilitation, treatment services and educational programs to the highest standard, for CAAAPU's male clients with alcohol and other drug related issues. The Case Worker will play a key role in coordinating the delivery of treatment programs for male clients at CAAAPU. They will provide support to a team of Care Workers, and will strive to build a safe and effective healing place that equips Aboriginal people with the tools to lead healthy, and productive lifestyle. Key Functions: Conduct Alcohol and other Drug assessment, develop Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) and provide case management. Provide AOD treatment through individual and group sessions. Carry out duties in accordance with CAAAPU safety policy, safety principles, corporate values and strategies. Facilitate the day-to-day delivery of treatment services, residential rehabilitation, and education programs for CAAAPU's clients, incorporating appropriate Treatment Standards and Protocols. Assist management through support of care workers and other staff Manage client wellbeing and safety at all times and in line with CAAAPU Duty of Care protocols. Ensure treatment and aftercare programs are developed. Provide advice and reports to management as required. Provides practical and emotional support to individuals and families, and referrals to available resources and emergency supplies, such as food vouchers Assesses individuals' and families' needs by planning, implementing and accessing relevant educational, training and support programs Assesses community needs and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment, training and other facilities and services Educates individuals to gain life skills to enable independent living and informs them of available support resources Assists individuals and families to be actively involved in their local community and engage in meaningful opportunities to promote healthy active living Provides individuals with transport to appointments, programs or recreational activities Supports individuals and families with recovery planning, goal setting and access to mental health services Maintain confidentiality and ensure sensitive information is handled accordingly. Enter daily case notes, data and provide reports in a timely manner. Other relevant work tasks as required. Essential Selection Criteria: Certificate, Diploma or Tertiary Qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Social Work or Mental Health Experience and understanding of aboriginal culture. Proven experience working in a team of people in a challenging and complex environment. Demonstrated ability and experience with supporting people whose lives have been affected by alcohol and other substance abuse. High level experience in AOD assessment and case planning. A high level of resilience and problem solving skills to enable effective functioning in a challenging and often difficult environment. Excellent interpersonal and people skills and a high level of written and oral communication skills. High Level Computer and administration competency. A Current NT Driver's License and First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one). Working with Children's card, and current (within 6 months) National Police Check
