The Opportunity We're looking for an experienced Senior Packaging Technologist to join our Australian R&D team and take a lead role across a diverse portfolio of packaging projects. In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering packaging solutions across New Product Development (NPD), Value Engineering (VE) and Sustainability initiatives, ensuring outcomes are commercially viable, operationally robust and aligned to consumer and customer needs. You'll play a key role in coaching and developing emerging talent, while leading multiple projects across a broad packaging portfolio including corrugated and rigid formats. With 10–15 projects in play at any time, this is a fast-paced, highly collaborative role with exposure across the full value chain and opportunities for interstate and occasional international travel. What You Will Do Lead the delivery of packaging components across NPD, VE and sustainability projects to agreed cost, quality and timing targets Develop and manage project plans, identifying risks and driving mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes Design and execute factory trials, ensuring robust data capture, analysis and clear recommendations Provide technical input into packaging specifications and artwork briefs (TAB), ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational requirements Partner closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory and external suppliers to deliver fit-for-purpose packaging solutions Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including value engineering, process optimisation and sustainability outcomes Coach and develop junior team members, contributing to capability uplift across the function What You Will Bring 5 years' experience in packaging within an FMCG environment Proven experience delivering NPD, value engineering and/or sustainability initiatives Strong technical capability across packaging formats, including corrugated, flexible and rigid packaging Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across cross-functional teams Experience working closely with manufacturing environments, including factory trials Degree qualified in Materials Science, Engineering, Food Science or similar Working knowledge of packaging regulations and APCO guidelines Proficient in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent) to drive informed decision-making across packaging projects.
