The opportunity The Waste and Recycling Contracts Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring Council’s kerbside waste and recycling services run smoothly, efficiently and delivers strong value for the community. Working within the Environment and Sustainability team, you'll manage seven high value contracts across collection, processing and landfill services, and partner closely with contractors and internal teams to drive performance, manage risk and continuously improve service outcomes for over 40,000 households. What you’ll be doing Leading the day‑to‑day and strategic management of waste and recycling contracts Developing and implementing contract management frameworks, KPIs and reporting Preparing, assessing and managing tenders in partnership with Procurement Building strong relationships with contractors and regional council networks Providing high quality briefings and advice to Management, Executive and Council What you'll need to succeed Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience Proven experience managing complex, high value service contracts Strong contract management capability including KPIs, risk and reporting Excellent written, verbal, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills Ability to manage competing priorities across operational and strategic work To be considered for this role applications should include A maximum 2-page cover letter which should outline your interest in the role A current CV which includes key achievements & relevant qualifications Uncover more about this role in the Position Description attached below, or contact Lisa Paton, Coordinator Environment and Sustainability via careers@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au Applications will be accepted until 11:30pm on 25 May 2026 .
