Baw Baw Shire Council is seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our Open Space team in the role of Open Space Maintenance Officer (East). We currently have both full-time and part-time positions available. This role plays a key part in maintaining and enhancing public open spaces across the municipality, ensuring parks, gardens, reserves, and recreational areas are presented to a high standard for the local community to enjoy. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a fleet of Toro mowers (5910, 4010 and 360 Groundsmasters) and associated equipment to ensure high-quality turf and grass maintenance is in accordance with and meets Council’s Open Space Maintenance Standards. This role includes daily plant and equipment maintenance, chemical spraying as per schedules, and supporting a range of general maintenance tasks. The successful candidate will work within a small, effective team and contribute to the presentation and safety of these parks, gardens, and open spaces throughout the local community. You’ll be part of a productive team of seven, working 9.5-hour days. Below is a list of key qualifications required and or preferred for this role: Current Victorian Drivers Licence (required) and or Medium Rigid truck license (preferred). Qualifications and Experience operating ride on mowers, whipper snippers, edgers, blowers and other various powered and non-powered hand tools. First Aid Certificate (an advantage). Chemical Users Certificate or ACUP (an advantage). Provide Victorian Working with Children Check, undertake a Police Check and pre-employment physical/functional assessment (required). Strong Commitment to safe work practices. Basic oral and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team.
