Safety & Wellbeing Advisor • Salary: $100,894 – $114,476 (Plus superannuation)• Fixed-term position to 27 August 2027• Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)• Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available) The Role The Safety & Wellbeing Advisor works within the Workplace Relations and Safety team to provide practical, risk-based safety and wellbeing advice and support across the organisation. The role partners with managers and stakeholders to proactively manage workplace safety and wellbeing outcomes, including physical and psychological risk. You will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of safety systems, policies, procedures and tools, while supporting operational improvement initiatives, audits, inspections and reporting. This role suits a safety professional who can operate in complex environments, influence stakeholders, and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to improve safety performance across a large organisation. Main Accountabilities Initiate, facilitate and evaluate operational improvement initiatives to support proactive safety and wellbeing management across the Department. Review, update and contribute to safety and wellbeing policies, procedures and guidelines in line with risk-based and human-centred approaches. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support safety systems, corrective actions, risk assessments, audits and inspections. Assist in the development and maintenance of safety business rules, standard operating procedures, safe work method statements and safety alerts. Undertake risk analysis, reporting and benchmarking to identify improvement opportunities and support safety governance and performance outcomes. The TeamThis position forms part of the Workplace Relations and Safety team within the Corporate Services Group and People & Culture Branch. The Workplace Relations and Safety team is a multi-disciplinary function providing strategic and operational support to strengthen organisational safety culture. The team partners across the Department to deliver safety systems, governance, and initiatives that improve both physical and psychological wellbeing outcomes. About You To be successful in this role, you must have the following skills and experience: Initiate, facilitate and evaluate operational improvement actions to achieve timelines, deadlines and standards and enable the proactive management of safety and wellbeing across the business. Review and update DJSIR Safety and Wellbeing policies, procedures and guidelines applying risk based, and human centred concepts. Develop, maintain and enhance professional relationships with the Safety and Wellbeing team, and internal and external stakeholders to support and promote the safety & wellbeing systems and tools that are used to implement corrective actions, programs, operational risk assessments (physical and psychological) and workplace inspections and audits. Assist in the development and maintenance of the department's safety business rules, standard operating procedures, safety and wellbeing systems, safe work method procedures and safety alerts. Identify through risk analysis, reporting and audit, opportunities for improvement, and consult with DJSIR's safety governance structures and stakeholders on safety and wellbeing KPI data and conduct associated research and benchmarking activities that align with recommended strategies for improvements in safety performance.
