The Role We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer/Architect to join a major government program delivering secure, cloud‑native platforms and services. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising secure, scalable AWS environments aligned to government security and compliance frameworks. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into cloud solutions and contribute to platform uplift and modernisation initiatives. Key Responsibilities Design and implement secure, scalable AWS cloud architectures aligned to government standards Build and manage cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation) Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and policy requirements into technical solution designs Implement and maintain cloud security controls, ensuring alignment to frameworks such as ISM and PSPF Monitor and optimise cloud environments for performance, cost, and reliability Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable automated and repeatable deployments Contribute to cloud platform uplift and modernisation initiatives Produce high‑quality technical documentation, including architecture designs, build guides, and runbooks Support governance, audit, and compliance activities across cloud environments What You’ll Need Strong experience designing and delivering solutions on AWS Hands‑on experience with core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch Experience with Infrastructure as Code, using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation Solid understanding of cloud networking, security principles, and identity/access management Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) is highly regarded Experience working in government or highly regulated environments Understanding of Australian Government security frameworks (ISM, PSPF) Ability to design and implement secure cloud architectures aligned to compliance requirements Experience supporting audit, risk, and accreditation processes Why Join Us?
