POSITION DESCRIPTION | MAINTENANCE OFFICER POSITION PURPOSE: The Maintenance Officer role is responsible for providing routine maintenance and repairs for the care community and grounds and garden and with compliance to WHS regulations ensure the care community is kept in excellent condition for the residents.The role contributes to making Opal a great place to work by having good work relationships with other team members and behaving in a way that support Opal’s values. This position reports to Opal HealthCare’s (Opal) General Manager. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. People & Leadership Ensure the delivery of maintenance and grounds keeping/gardening services to support residents expectations of living in a well-kept care community Follow Opal Values/ Opal and policies, procedures and practices to ensure the maintenance team demonstrate professional behaviours accordingly Participate in annual performance/development reviews and follow the feedback given by the GM in those appraisals Support the orientation and training of new team members Maintain own professional development (through performance appraisals, 360 degree feedback and resident feedback) Ensure the daily/weekly maintenance schedule is followed Manage problems/issues only escalating to General Manager to avoid disruption to residents Manage regular stocktake and reordering of cleaning products (within budget) Participate honestly/positively in client and team member surveys Participate in team member education sessions and share knowledge 2. Quality Ensure that WHS hazards/safe work practices are followed, including inspections, secure storage of maintenance chemicals/equipment (in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions) Ensure compliance with manual handling procedures/practices, correct use of safety devices, equipment/aids, personal protective equipment and infection control Ensure that information and data are recorded correctly for monthly reporting Ensure that residents sensitive and confidential data/information is used correctly Ensure participation in internal assessments/audits following risk/ compliance/quality team/processes Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Communicate with residents/families, to get feedback about maintenance service and action accordingly with GM Support Opal continuous improvement program, using Continuous Quality Improvement tools to ensure team members understand and comply with mandatory reporting processes and participate in mandatory training 3. Communication Act as an Opal ambassador and speak positively about Opal with team members and community Develop and maintain positive resident/family and team relationships Allow team members to raise issues about matters that are impacting on them “without fear” Ensure effective flow of information to all Opal care community team member 4.
