Overview: As an experienced Architect / Graduate, you will play a pivotal role in the architecture and design field, actively contributing your expertise, creativity, and technical prowess to deliver exceptional design solutions and advance our Tenets. Your responsibilities will encompass actively contributing to delivering design excellence on our projects, collaborating with clients and interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects from conception to completion. Design Creativity and Innovation: Ability to conceptualise, develop and execute design excellence on architectural projects from initial ideation to final delivery. Contribute to the generation and development of excellent Architectural design outcomes, design principles, aesthetics, and spatial concepts, translating client requirements and project objectives into visually stunning and functional design solutions that exceed expectations and add value. Technical Competence: Demonstrated proficiency in effectively utilising design tools and computational technologies including Revit (necessary), Rhino (desirable) and Grasshopper (beneficial), 3D modelling and visualisation software, to develop, analyse and test ideas, and prepare detailed design documentation, models, and compelling presentations. In-depth knowledge of planning and building codes, construction techniques, and materials to address technical challenges and optimize design outcomes. Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, materials and technological advancements, integrating them into design solutions to enhance outcomes, functionality, sustainability, and performance. Collaboration and Communication: Clear Communicator: skilled in conveying ideas clearly through both verbal, written and drawn communication. Qualifications: Master's degree (or equivalent) in Architecture. Experience (min. 5–10 years professional experience) in architectural design. Demonstrated portfolio of successful projects across diverse sectors (some Defence and Urban design experience is beneficial but not essential). Demonstrated passion and capacity for design excellence, innovation, and creating meaningful, impactful spaces that enrich the human experience. As our Rhino-centric Design Technology Coordinator, you’ll lead the way in how we use Rhino, Grasshopper, and Python to push the boundaries of design. Sitting within the BVN Technology team, you’ll provide strategic support across our BIM, CAD, and computational workflows, ensuring our project teams can deliver their best work. You’ll be a key voice in our Design Technology Network, a collective of technologists sharing knowledge and keeping BVN at the forefront of industry innovation. This role requires deep expertise in Rhino and Grasshopper (with a strong proficiency in Python) to help us automate, innovate, and influence strategic initiatives across the practice You will report to the Design Technology Chair and the Chief Information Officer (CIO), with a dotted line to the Project Partners Group (PPG), who provide strategic oversight for project delivery across the practice. What you’ll do Set the standard for Rhino, Grasshopper, and Python across the practice. You will ensure our teams have the tools and knowledge to use them effectively by: Establishing, maintaining, and providing ongoing training for Rhino, Grasshopper, and Python. Implementing guidance for the practice regarding the use of Rhino Inside Revit. Managing application support for Rhino, Grasshopper, and other DT tools. Testing and rolling out ongoing upgrades to the design technology software stack. Collaborate with other Design Technology Coordinators to effectively manage and maintain our broader suite of tools, including Revit. Support the facilitation of the Design Technology Network, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation. Coordinate the development and maintenance of design technology technical resources and documentation. Partner with the wider Technology team to deliver a seamless and inspiring technology experience for all BVNers. What you’ll bring Expertise in Rhino, Grasshopper, and Python, with a strong understanding of Autodesk Revit (BVN’s primary documentation platform). Proven project delivery experience using BIM and computational design tools. A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with a natural ability to bring people together and share ideas. Deep knowledge of software interoperability, particularly in standardising the approach to Rhino Inside Revit. A genuine appetite for education, with the ability to deliver engaging training and mentorship. A future-focused mindset, you’re genuinely curious about how emerging tech and new ways of working can evolve the way we design and deliver. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance. Additional experience We understand there are many Design Technology applications, and new ones popping up each week. While this role is Rhino-centric, we use a diverse range of applications including Revit, Enscape, dRofus, and burgeoning AI-based tools.
