Reporting line The Director, Payment Strategy and Outcomes Delivery reports to the Executive Director within the Procurement Reform and Banking / Banking and Financial Services division of NSW Treasury. You will lead change through influence rather than mandate, working with a small direct team and across matrixed delivery models with agencies, shared service platforms and banking partners. What you’ll do (and why it matters) Lead the development and ongoing refinement of the NSW Payment Strategy and policy framework , setting a clear direction for whole‑of‑government payments reform. Drive sector‑wide initiatives to modernise payment systems, improve efficiency and security, and support safe and inclusive payment outcomes. Act as the business owner for the State’s payments platform , working with platform owners to shape the strategic roadmap for banking and payments infrastructure. Provide independent, expert advice to NSW Government agencies , helping them understand their context, identify opportunities for improvement and navigate complex payments decisions. Build and sustain strong partnerships with banking and financial services providers , leveraging industry capability and innovation to deliver better outcomes for government. Establish and lead governance forums that align agencies and partners, manage risk and track delivery of reform outcomes. Monitor emerging risks and opportunities across the payments landscape and advise government on implications for economic, fiscal and service delivery objectives.
