The role We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Civil Design Engineer (with a water and sewer flair) to join our growing Melbourne team. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of civil design delivery across a diverse portfolio of land development and building projects. You will drive technical excellence, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating closely with clients, developers, and project stakeholders, PM work from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Design & Technical Leadership Review work from Designers to ensure fit for project Apply hydraulic and drainage design principles across stormwater, sewer, and water infrastructure systems. Undertake and review DAS (Developer Agreement Scheme) sewer and water designs Project Management Manage multiple concurrent projects across land development and buildings Act as a key point of contact for clients, developers, architects, and authorities throughout the project lifecycle. Manage consultant teams and subconsultants where required. Prepare project programmes, fee proposals, and monitor project progress against milestones. Engagement Liaise with local councils, water authorities (including Melbourne Water, South East Water, City West Water, and Yarra Valley Water), and utility providers. Represent us at design meetings, site visits, and project briefings. Mentoring & Team Development Support, guide, and mentor graduate and intermediate engineers within the team. About you. We need: Registered or eligible for registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or equivalent. DAS (Developer Agreement Scheme) Sewer and Water Accreditation - Level 1 and Level 2 (or demonstrated progress toward Level 2). Minimum 7 years of civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on land development and/or building projects. Experience managing projects Desirable Experience with urban infill and urban regeneration projects. Familiarity with Melbourne metropolitan councils and water authority requirements. Experience with traffic-related civil works (intersection design, car parking, road works). Prior experience in a multi-disciplinary consulting environment.
