The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components used in security fencing systems, ensuring all work meets industry standards and project specifications. Position Responsibilities and Tasks: Interpreting technical drawings, site measurements, and specifications to fabricate security fencing systems, gates, and structural steel components Selecting, cleaning, and preparing metal materials (including steel, mesh, and tubular sections) used in security fencing and perimeter protection systems Cutting and preparing metal components for fencing panels, posts, gates, and custom fabrication using hand tools, cutting torches, and metal cutting machinery Shaping, bending, and assembling metal sections, frames, and wire mesh to meet project specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential security fencing Aligning and positioning fencing components, posts, and fabricated sections using measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and structural integrity Welding and assembling metal components using MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques to fabricate fencing panels, gates, and security structures Installing and securing fencing components through welding, bolting, and fastening methods in line with Australian standards and site requirements Inspecting welds and fabricated structures to ensure strength, durability, and compliance with safety and security specifications Finishing fabricated fencing products by grinding, polishing, and treating metal surfaces to achieve high-quality, durable finishes suitable for outdoor environments Cleaning, smoothing, and reinforcing welds to ensure corrosion resistance and long-term performance in security fencing applications Qualifications and Skills: Relevant qualifications. A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role. Ability to read and interpret detailed architectural and engineering drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble custom metal components. Strong understanding of steel and metal fabrication processes, including cutting, forming, welding, and finishing techniques to achieve structurally sound and high-quality outcomes. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in varying site conditions. Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between: $75,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
